Accessibility
Also known as: RGAA, WCAG, a11y
Understanding the term
The most useful improvements are also the simplest: sufficient contrast between text and background, alternative text for images, keyboard navigation and headings that follow a proper hierarchy.
What helps accessibility helps everyone. Good contrast is easier to read in sunlight, and a clear heading structure helps search engines as well as screen readers.
