Search visibility
Search intent
Also known as: query intent
Understanding the term
Google ranks pages according to the intent it has identified. Missing that intent is the most common reason a good page fails to rank: it sells when someone wants to understand, or explains when someone wants to buy.
Checking it costs nothing: enter the query and look at what Google already displays. If it shows comparisons, it has judged the intent to be comparison. A sales page will not fit, however good it is.
