Behind the scenes
The decisions behind the project
01The starting point
Les Nuits de Van Gogh offers an encounter with twenty of the artist’s works, from the nights of Arles to flowers and portraits. The website invites visitors into the colour, then lets them explore the paintings freely.
02The challenge
Convey the texture, colours and space of an exhibition through a screen. The presentation needs to encourage visitors to continue while keeping each work individually accessible.
03Step into the painting
From the homepage, paintings surround the visitor. Virtual rooms extend that feeling: the works occupy the space from floor to ceiling, and the eye follows the movement of the visit.
04A journey through colour
The Starry Night, scenes of Arles, Sunflowers, The Bedroom and portraits set the pace. Scrolling connects the different atmospheres, with short texts inviting visitors to notice the details of each painting.
05Every work within sight
The collection brings all twenty paintings together for direct access. Visitors can follow the journey, pause at a work or return to the selection, and choose from the start whether to explore with music or in silence.
